Hunts International

We hired Hunts as a local company to move us to Spain. We made it clear we did not want to use sub contractors and was coming to them as they were local and used their own vans. On the day we were moving, a non english speaking , European sub contractor was sent in a plain white van. Obviously we called to express our concerns as we were very clear on this point but was accused of being racist, on more than one occasion which I can only assume is a tactic to make you shut up and back down.

Our fears of a subcontractor was confirmed and in the middle of the sea we were called to say we needed to pay €3000 fine to release the vehicle ( or the vehicle wouldn’t be reaching the destination). Even with 5.5 hours notice, Hunts International decided to tell us 5 mins before they closed for the weekend.

As much as they pass the blame to the sub contractor, my agreement was with them. They came twice to my house to measure so they were responsible for booking the correct sized vehicle. The vehicle was overweight but I’m sure no one actually knows the weight of the contents of their house, this is a professionals job which HUNTS definitely are not. The BAR have confirmed that the fine was the drivers responsibility and that HUNTS should have measured the contents of the house accurately or informed me the vehicle was overweight and illegal before they left.

After a lot of heartache we hire a local company to collect our belonging which was a battle in itself as our belonging were held to ransom. Luckily my partner is Spanish and could converse with the local police. At no point did Hunts allow the belonging to be released, this was the driver who was worried he was going to be arrested for theft.

AVOID at all cost, don’t make a stressful time more stressful by using this company.

I have waited to calm down before making this review however I would not feel comfortable if someone making a big move was put in this situation and made to pay because they had no other options.

Using a company because they are local isn't always the best option and I wish I has gone with the recommendation I was given. http://www.matthewjamesremovals.com .

A 'compulsive mover' friend of mine recommended Hunts to me. She is very organised (and moves house a lot) and I therefore reckoned her judgement would be good.

Hunts patiently put up with our buyer's people fiddling about and mucking us around every step of the way; to the point the planned move wasn't even certain till a week or so before.

So when the friendly, young Hunts removal lads arrived on time; smiles on their faces, efficiently got everything loaded delivered and unloaded (with a careful and slightly amazing strength) - it all felt super efficient and stress free in comparison to the palava of selling (and staying up all night beforehand doing the final tidying and packing!).

Service cost: £1586

I was horrified with the services provided. Several of our valuable antique furniture which had been in the family for generations we're greatly damaged (tablets without legs, damaged surfaces, pieces of wood detached, etc.). I regret that I cannot attach the pictures taken by my brother and my sister of their damaged furniture, I can only attach mine to back my claims. The whole organisation was sloppy. Pieces of furniture arrived at the wrong place and had to be re delivered twice. They would not let us contact the drivers to prevent or rectify any mistakes in good time. They were unable to confirm the date of delivery to my brother until 2 days before. We were just lured by the very reasonable price, unfortunately the service was worth much less than we paid. We are now going through the pain and bureaucracy of insurance claims and trying to get a partial refund for the chaos and the inconvenience caused. Guess what? They will be talking to their manager!

We have been very pleased with the service and professionalism given by Hunts. We had two great chaps who moved all our items into storage in February - they worked so hard and were polite and very considerate of our items and the house we were vacating. Items were then stored for 4 months whilst awaiting completion of new house. The move from storage to new house was not without issue and we had to change dates several times and Hunt's were so helpful and accommodating throughout. The move into the house was done just as efficiently as the removal. Our piano tuner came the day after and was very impressed that it did not require tuning as it still had perfect pitch after the two moves and storage. He will recommend Hunt's to any customers looking to move pianos in future. Thank you to everyone at Hunts from removal guys to staff in the Offices who have been so helpful.

We are renting in Spain at the moment get the keys to our house in 3 days and Hunts still haven't told us when we can expect our furniture to arrive. This is the latest episode in a very disappointing experience with this company. On the moving day a St George's Removals lorry arrived late without the equipment to move our piano, desipte prior notification.  That was damaged, as was a dressing table, as the men were in a hurry because of their late arrival and less than careful. It was 3.00 before they had finished and the new owners were waiting to move in. Despite plenty of notice of our moving in date in Spain they have never confirmed when we will have delivery and now with 3 days to go we have to contemplate sleeping on the floor or paying for a hotel. Shabby service overall! Would I recommend them? Not on your life!

My removal was for an eclectic load of stuff from my rural location in Herefordshire to an equally rural one in Brittany. Pick-up was easy and efficient - the men and van arrived exactly when they said they would. Delivery was the same. We were kept informed at every stage. We didn't have a lot to move - basically a load of big odds and s#ds - but Hunts were helpful in helping us to assess the cubic capacity, the price was competitive and they did what they said they'd do. It all arrived safely and was put where we wanted it. A professional, friendly and helpful service from everyone in the Hunts International team. Recommended.

Hunts successfully moved us from Warwickshire to North Yorkshire, at the end of last year. Competitive in price we were impressed with the estimator's understanding and attention to detail - we wanted to move a number of precious plants from the garden together with the content of the greenhouse etc.

Hunts were brilliant in packing everything the day before - staying to make sure that everything was done to our satisfaction and clearly labelled.

On moving day the crew worked right through with only a short lunch break, fitting the suite into protective covers, dismantling wardrobes and beds and carefully labelling screws etc. They stayed until everything was safely in the lorry and trailer, walking round with me to check we were happy before taking everything away to the depot overnight.

The next day they arrived before time at our new house in North Yorkshire and never a complaint about the 2 hour wait before we received the keys. Even knowing they faced the long drive back to Worcestershire, they took trouble to ensure everything was in the correct place and that all of the doors on the furniture were aligned perfectly. No breakages and no damage - all went like clockwork.

The professionalism of every one of the crew was impressive and I can certainly recommend Hunts to anyone looking for a reliable moving service.

I was generally very pleased with the service provided by Hunts International for our move from Leicester to Ireland. Darral was particularly helpful in scheduling pick up and gave me as much info as he could about drop off arrangements. The moving crew was cheerful, speedy and obliging. Access to our property was difficult and necessitated turning and reversing the lorry. This was carried out with the minimum of fuss despite an unfortunate encounter with a large rock in the hedgerow! I would happily recommend Hunts in the future.

I have moved 3 times in the UK with Hunts, from the Midlands to East Anglia. At every step they couldn't have been more helpful.
I have moved from the UK to Puerto Rico and after many attempts to find a company who could assist and make this difficult trip easy, I returned to Hunts.
Lance put up with huge amounts of phone calls from me and was always patient. So thank you Lance, he went so far as to advise as to where I should get my boxes..
Everything that he advised happened, my 8 boxes were collected and delivered exactly on time as he said.

We have been impressed by the service provided by all the staff at Hunts. We had our goods packed by Hunts in the UK to be taken to storage, with subsequent delivery to France when we had found a house. All the removal staff we had contact with (8 in total) were cheerful, friendly and very efficient. This was our first move for 35 years and we were surprised by how quickly our house full of stuff was packed and taken away over two days. Everything arrived safely 3 months later (apart from one minor breakage), and was unloaded quickly despite 35 degree heat.

I had a terrible experience with this company. On the day of delivery, the driver refused to carry the boxes up to my new flat (2nd floor), even though I had payed extra to Hunts International for this service. I carried the boxes myself. The people that transported my items was a Polish removals company, presumably subcontracted by Hunts International to cut costs. On top of things, the communication with the driver was close to impossible. Finally, Hunts International did not manage my complain well. Do not use this company to avoid dissapointments with your international removals.

Where do I begin? It first started off with hiring a company in UAE called Euromovers. It started off well with them when they came to visit and collect the goods, then my suspicions of a rouge company started to arise from the lack of communication. It took Euromovers months to even get to the stage of shipping my goods. ( I could go on for hours about how Euromovers were but I will end that story here )
The goods finally got shipped ( 4 months after collecting from our home ) and the container with our and other peoples goods arrived at port in the UK. This is where Hunts International came in to the picture. Well actually Hunts International were oblivious to the container arriving as Euro movers had not informed them and shipped it under their name. I later found out that the container had been sat at the port for weeks until Hunts had been contacted by the relevant person(s) at the port to inform them.
Hunts then stepped in to action and tried to make contact with Euromovers to resolve the fact that Euromovers HAD NOT EVEN PAID THE SHIPPING COSTS!! As you can imagine I was outraged at this point as Euromovers had seriously let me and my family down!
I was contacted by Lance Hunt from Hunts International and he had explained to me that he that the Euromovers had not paid the shipping line and many other parties. He explained that that they had paid the costs in order to get the container with my goods on board released from the port and to their warehouse. At least it was safe and sound at this point and not in no mans land. I spoke with Lance/Adam and Daryl along the way and they kept me well informed of the progress.
Once they got all the costs from the shipping line that the rats Euromovers had used and all the charges from the port, they contacted me and gave me the costs. As you can imagine I was furious as I had already PAID Euromovers for a door to door service. But I understood that I Had no choice as Euromover had completely stitched me up. Saying that I can not be more thankful for the team at Hunts as they have done nothing but help me along this very difficult situation that I hope that I never face again. I have been informed by Lance that some of the other people that had their goods on board are not so happy. I can only say that they must have blinkers on and more foolish for them for not being able to understand how they have helped us so much. Our goods would still have been at port building storage costs on a daily basis.
When I do come to move again, I will most certainly be using Hunts again as they have gone above and beyond the line of duty.
Long and short of this review is

Hunts International = Fantastic company that have gone above and beyond what was expected of them. Thank you for all your help from the bottom of my heart.
Euromovers = Lying, deceitful RATS ( they will go to court for this, I have since found out that the owner of Euromovers also owns another company that the police will be in touch with soon).

Service cost: £6000

Please do yourself a favour and avoid this company like the plague. This was a consignement from the UK to Germany and I accepted their estimate of delivery of 2-3 weeks through my UK packers and storage company, but with the provisio that I would be away just at the end of the 3 weeks.
They said they would try to get it to me before my departure date by one day. Repeated attempts to ascertain an approximate date of arrival failed for over 2 weeks. I was then told it would be nearer a further 10 days on top of that - totalling over 4 weeks for delivery.
I felt at this point they had misrepresented the facts in order to get my business and full upfront payment. Through the faollowing 2 weeks, they brought the day forward 2 days, and the week of the proposed arrival, they put it back by one day. On the final thrid change of date, they could not tell me what time the vehicle would be with me.
On the supposed day of arrival, I was up at 6am to wait; by midday, there was no sign. I rang my shippers in the UK and they were told by Hunts it would be afternoon - that's all. I then received a call from the driver of the vehicle (who were the subcontractors - I didn't know it had been subcontracted) to say they had just arrived in Bergen, Norway, and they would be with me at 8pm.
I then received another call from the driver later that afternoon to say they had had a puncture and would not be with me on the day. I was highly sceptical, but then the subcontractor's head office in Liverpool rang me immediately both on my landline and mobile to tell me of the puncture. I then realised that the fault lay with Hunts anad not the subcontractors because when the crew arrived they told me all about the tyre that had blown, so that part of the story was true,
Zero business courtesy, zero communication, zero customer-care. If the subcontractor could ring me immediately, so could have Hunts throughout the 4 weeks' plus they had my goods and my money,  Never come across this in all my 33 house-moves. Utterly atrocious.

We have used Hunts to relocate 3 times in the last few years with the most recent removal taking place in late Sep '16 from Ireland to the UK. We have always found all staff (office based and removal teams) polite and very helpful.

Additionally removal teams have always arrived at the agreed times and additional resources have always been available when needed to ensue that packing deadlines have been met. Items have always been professionally packed with no issues being encountered with broken items when unpacking.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Hunts to anybody looking to relocate to or from overseas.

5 Star service and brilliant efficiency! From quote to arrival it has all been utterly smooth. The most stressful part of the whole job was that the team (Ian & Jason) had got themselves ahead of schedule and requested an earlier than planned pick up. But they calmly took over the last of the packing with us and with amazing energy and care, loaded us up with precision (it was a challenge to get it all in - but they did it!) and so enabled us to set off driving back to the UK early. I'm hoping not to have to use Hunts again for a while..! BUT would wholeheartedly recommend the company to anyone contemplating an International Home Move. Superb and a very fair price to boot - thank you!
